I began my artistic explorations as a classically trained clarinetist and music educator. I realized fairly early that the arts bring me peace and provide a meaningful outlet for self-expression. I find joy in creating things that are beautiful and in encouraging others to explore their own abilities to express themselves through the arts. My passion for visual art began after my children were born, when I discovered that the permanence of visual art provides a different kind of satisfaction from creating music and presents so many new possibilities.
Over the past 18 years, I have explored a variety of media, including acrylics, oils, and paper collage, focusing mainly on landscape and figurative work. Most recently, I have been developing my skills painting en plein air, in which each moment is a multi-sensory experience and presents a new and unique set of challenges.
Making art makes me happy
When I’m creating, time and all the chaotic thoughts that complicate life disappear, and I get lost in the process of completing an artistic idea. When a piece of art doesn’t look the way I want it to, it becomes a puzzle, and I love the challenge of solving a good puzzle!
I see beauty everywhere; in the contrast between light and shadow, in the balance and variety of shapes and textures, and in the way colours interact. I am inspired by nature, architecture, and day-to-day life, and strive to portray moments of beauty as I see and feel them.

I am a proud member of the Art Guild of Scarborough, through whom I have received awards for "Best Oil," "Best Abstract," and "Best Other Media."
I received a first-place award for my art "Heading Home" from Arts on the Credit.
